Helpful consumer’s review
The build quality and the spec of this laptop are excellent, and generally it runs very well. However, there are several aspects of the machine that mean it’s not as good as other laptops out there at a similar price.

Firstly, the wireless is woeful – very short range (compared to me 3 year old Toshiba laptop, which seems to connect at twice the distance) and constantly cutting out, even with a “Very Good” signal.

Secondly, the unit gets REALLY hot. Like, too hot to put on your lap. Not good for a “laptop” computer. I’ve never had a laptop run as hot as this one does.

Battery life is also poor. It’s good, IF you turn the power settings right up, but then you might as well be running a cheaper, slower laptop and save your money.

Finally, ACER seem to have filled the laptop with the most pointless and bloated software they could find, and a lot of it is a right pain in the bum to remove.

All in all, it’s a nice piece of kit, if you’re going to keep it plugged into a wired network and the mains, and work in a fridge.
