Helpful consumer’s review
I bought this laptop in the spring of 2008, to use mainly for the internet, some music and photo editing.
As the Previous reviewer noted, it is not the strongest looking keyboard around, but in reality I have been using it daily for almost a year now, and the keyboard has stood up to everything that I have thrown at it with no problems whatsoever, and it does everything that it is supposed to do, it has even survived the cat walking across it with muddy feet,
The touchpad works well, but I do not like them very much, and the first thing I did was buy a small USB mouse, which works very well with it, and with two USB points on either side you can use it left or right handed.
With its dual core processor and three gigabytes of memory, the supplied Windows Vista home premium works well with few problems and the built in wireless internet connection is a breeze.
It has an SD card reader situated at the front, which is compatible with the newer SDHC cards as well.
I am not sure how well games would run on this machine, as I use my desktop PC for them, but I suspect older games with less graphics requirements would run OK on it, the business, graphics, music and video editing software all runs well on it with no memory issues or crashes.
Sound is from two small built in stereo speakers, sound quality is not hi-fi but isn’t bad for a laptop.
The display is good, I can use it to edit my photos with no problems, text is easy to read, and video is clear and runs smoothly, although it can be harder to see in bright sunlight.
The DVD/CD tray looks a bit flimsy compared to desktop drives but it’s worked fine so far, so no complaints there either.
In conclusion.
Despite the issues of build quality raised by the previous reviewer, it has proved to be robust and nothing has broken or fallen off despite almost a year of constant use. I have had no problems at all with any software that I have installed and windows seems to be quite stable on it.
It does everything that it says it does on the box……..recommended.
